Terms of Use
Effective as of 16 October 2026. Replaces the previous version of 7 August 2026.
SketchLab is operated by Hichem HAMMADACHE, 467 route de la Pompignane, 34170 Castelnau-le-Lez, France (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of the SketchLab / DrawMax app (the “app”). By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. What the app does
SketchLab is a drawing-tutorial app. It provides step-by-step tutorials, lets you save the drawings you make, and — if you choose to — publish them so other users can see and like them. Some features require an account; some require coins or a paid subscription.
2. Your account
You may use the app without an account, with limited features. To publish artwork, like other users' artwork or keep your progress across devices, you need an account, created with an email address, a Google account or an Apple account.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You must be at least 13 to create one. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
3. Your content stays yours
The drawings, photos, tutorials and text you upload remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
By publishing content in the app, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize and display it for the purpose of operating and promoting the app — that is, showing it in the community feed, in rankings, on your public profile, and in app store or social-media material featuring the app. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already needed for moderation or legal records, and for backups until they rotate out.
You confirm that you have the right to publish what you upload — that you drew it, or that you are otherwise allowed to use it, including any photo you import.
4. What you may not publish
This section is a condition of using the app. Do not upload, publish or send:
- Sexual content, nudity presented in a sexualised way, or any sexual content involving minors — this is reported to the authorities and results in immediate, permanent account termination.
- Violence or gore intended to shock, threats, or content promoting self-harm or suicide.
- Hate speech or content attacking people on the basis of origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Harassment, bullying, or targeting a specific person.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or image rights — including tracing or copying another artist's work and presenting it as your own.
- Other people's personal information, or photographs of identifiable people published without their consent.
- Illegal content, or promotion of illegal activity, drugs, weapons or gambling.
- Spam, advertising, scams, or links to malware.
- Impersonation of another person, artist or organisation, including in your username or profile picture.
Do not attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or scrape the app or our servers, or to circumvent paid features.
5. Moderation, reporting and blocking
Published artwork is reviewed before it appears in the community feed. Content you have not published is visible only to you.
Every published artwork can be reported from the app. Every user can be blocked, which hides their content from you.
We may remove any content, unpublish it, or suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms — without notice where the content is seriously harmful or illegal. Reports are reviewed within 72 hours. If your content is removed, you can write to contact@sketchlabapps.com to ask why and contest the decision.
To report content or an account outside the app, or to report an intellectual property infringement, write to contact@sketchlabapps.com describing the content and why it should be removed.
6. Free features and paid features
Some tutorials and features are free; others are premium and need to be unlocked with coins (see section 8) or, for some subscribers, are included in their subscription (see section 7). Which ones are which can change, and we may add or remove content.
7. Subscriptions
There are two kinds of subscription. The price, the billing period and what is included are shown in the app before you confirm, and the amount charged is the one shown at that moment. Plans and prices are not listed here because they are shown to you in the app itself, may vary by country, and can change — the price you see before confirming is always the current one.
- SketchLab Premium is a subscription that gives you coins (see section 8): currently 40 coins per month, credited when you subscribe and then once a month on the anniversary of your purchase (also with the yearly plan). It also removes advertising from the app, and gives bonus coins on the coin packs you buy while it is active. It does not give access to all premium tutorials: you use your coins to unlock the ones you want. It has no free trial. The “Bonus of a tutorial” described in section 8 is not included and is paid for in coins like for everyone else.
- SketchLab Pro is the earlier subscription. If you subscribed to it before SketchLab Premium was introduced, it is not changed by this update: it keeps giving you access to all premium tutorials, and removes advertising, for as long as that subscription stays active.
For both kinds of subscription:
- It renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling is done in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings, not in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep your subscription benefits until the end of the period already paid for. Coins already credited to your account stay yours when a subscription ends (see section 8).
- If a free trial or introductory offer is shown to you and you cancel during it, you are not charged. Starting a subscription while a free trial is running may forfeit the rest of the trial.
- Restoring purchases: if you reinstall the app or use another device with the same store account, use “Restore purchases” in the app to recover your subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us. We can help you find the right form, but we cannot issue a store refund ourselves. If a subscription payment is refunded by the store, the coins credited for that period are taken back and advertising may return (see section 8 on negative balances).
- Payment is taken by Apple or Google. We never receive or store your card details.
8. Coins
Coins are a virtual in-app currency. They let you unlock content inside the app. These rules apply to all coins, whether you bought them, received them with a subscription, or earned them.
8.1 Getting coins
- Buying packs. You can buy packs of coins, as one-off purchases through Apple or Google. Some packs may include bonus coins (for example on your first purchase, or while a SketchLab Premium subscription is active); what you get is shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscribing to SketchLab Premium (section 7).
- Earning them for free, for example a welcome gift when you create an account, missions (such as having drawings validated or taking part in contests), a place on a contest podium (each league has its own podium), or watching a rewarded advertisement (limited in frequency and not offered to subscribers). The available rewards and their amounts are shown in the app and can change.
8.2 What you can do with coins
- Unlock a premium tutorial. The unlock is permanent on your account. A tutorial you have unlocked with coins is shown without advertising. If you have an active SketchLab Pro subscription, you already have access to premium tutorials and cannot unlock one with coins.
- Get the “Bonus of a tutorial” on a free tutorial: a one-time unlock that opens the PDF and the live trace of that tutorial. A free tutorial keeps its advertising.
- Order a tutorial. You send us a subject you would like to see, and the coins are taken when you send the order. We accept a limited number of orders each month and may accept or refuse an order; the content rules in section 4 apply to the subject. If your order is refused, all the coins are returned to you. The order screen shows the expected delivery time (currently about three weeks); it is an estimate, not a guarantee. When you place the order you choose whether the finished tutorial is shared with the community (credited as “ordered by” you) or kept private so that only you can use it. An ordered tutorial is made by us: you get access to it, not ownership of it (section 9).
The price in coins of each use is shown in the app before you confirm, and you are charged the price shown. The price of a premium tutorial depends on its popularity and can change over time; we can also change other prices and rewards. A change never affects a tutorial you have already unlocked, which stays unlocked for as long as it is available in the app and your account is open. We may withdraw a tutorial from the app (section 6).
8.3 Rules that apply to coins
- No monetary value. Coins are not money, e-money or a financial product. They are a licence to use features of the app, with no cash value.
- Not exchangeable and not refundable. Coins cannot be exchanged for money or for anything outside the app, and are not refundable once credited, except where the law requires otherwise or where the store refunds your purchase as described below.
- Not transferable. Coins are attached to your account only. You cannot give, sell, lend or transfer them to another account, and you may not buy or sell coins or accounts outside the app.
- They do not expire. Coins stay on your account until you use them, including when a subscription ends. You need to be signed in with an account to buy or use coins; guest use is limited to the free tutorials.
- Account deletion. If you delete your account, or if we close it for a breach of these terms, your coins and your unlocks are deleted with it and cannot be recovered or refunded.
8.4 Refunds by the store and negative balance
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are decided by them under their own policies (see section 7). If a coin pack, or a subscription payment that gave you coins, is refunded by the store, we take back the coins credited for that purchase, including its bonus coins. If you have already spent some of them, your balance becomes negative, and you cannot spend coins again until it is back to zero or more, by earning or buying coins. Tutorials you have already unlocked are not taken back.
8.5 Right of withdrawal
Coins are digital content that is supplied immediately. If you are a consumer, by buying coins or starting a subscription you ask for the coins to be supplied right away and you acknowledge that, once they are credited to your account, you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal for that digital content, to the extent the law allows this. This does not affect any refund that Apple or Google may grant you under their own policies, nor any right the law gives you that cannot be waived.
8.6 Fraud and abuse
Do not obtain coins by fraud or abuse: for example payments you later dispute in bad faith, exploiting a bug, using several accounts to collect free rewards, or using automated means. We may cancel coins or unlocks obtained this way, and suspend or close the account concerned (section 11).
8.7 Minors
Purchases are made through your Apple or Google account, and are subject to the parental controls, spending limits and approval settings of that store. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian before buying coins or a subscription.
9. Our content
The tutorials, illustrations, text, layout, name and logo of the app belong to us or to our licensors. You may use them only inside the app, for your personal use. You may not copy, redistribute or resell them, and you may not republish our tutorials as your own — including as a community tutorial in the app.
10. Availability, and things we do not promise
We work to keep the app available and working, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. The app needs an internet connection for most features; your mobile data charges are yours.
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those the law gives you and does not allow us to exclude. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you have not backed up elsewhere. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Ending this agreement
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. If we end your access for a reason other than a breach by you while you have a paid subscription, you keep access for the period already paid for. What happens to your coins when an account is closed is explained in section 8.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will update the effective date above and, for changes that materially affect you, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of France, and disputes are subject to the courts of France. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, nor of the right to bring proceedings there.
